Software Team Leader – Embedded System Level Software for Automotive

Synopsys is a worldwide leading supplier of horizontal IP (Intellectual Property) which is used by our customers to design semiconductor integrated circuits. The product portfolio includes IP components and subsystems for ARC CPU processors, EV processors for embedded vision, USB, DDR, and Ethernet among many others
Our team is focused on system level embedded software running on safety enhanced versions of ARC processor IP products primarily targeting automotive applications. We are looking for a senior embedded software architect with broad expertise in automotive electronic control units (ECU) to join our team and drive development of bleeding edge microprocessor IP solutions. We build software baseline for next generation automotive solutions by implementing requirements of ISO 26262 standard for processing units and systems enabling safety mechanisms like software test libraries and SoC level safety monitors as well as support packages for relevant software runtime environments like Autosar

Key responsibilities

  • Design and lead development of software driven safety mechanisms addressing microprocessor and/or SoC level hardware faults
  • Supervise creation of Autosar Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) software implementations and ports of Autosar software stacks
  • Support hardware, software and systems certification process in accordance with ISO 26262 standard by delivering software specific formal work products
  • Together with functional safety team implement ASIL-D grade development process to prevent appearing of systematic faults
  • Work in close collaboration with digital hardware and hardware safety engineers
  • Interact with Synopsys application engineers and customers to promote ARC safety solutions and receive feedback on in-field requirements
  • Create technical documentation and presentations describing ARC safety solutions
  • Contribute to ARC safety development roadmap


  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 standard or any other derivative of IEC 61508
  • Experience with software programming for automotive grade SoC's from any tier 1 vendor like Infineon, NXP/Freescale, Renesas, etc.
  • Practical experience with Autosar Classic implementations
  • In-depth understanding of at least one microprocessor architecture
  • Understanding of professional software development methodologies (version control, bug-tracking, code analysis, review and audit systems)
  • Excellent teamwork and very strong English communication skills, written and verbal

Nice to have requirements:

  • TÜV training / certification related to Functional Safety
  • Practical experience with adaptation of Autosar MCAL to a new hardware platform
  • Basic exposure to FPGA and SoC hardware design processes
